1. Did you have a favorite blanket or toy as a kid? If so, do you still have it?

None that I can really remember, but I've been told and seen pictures of a little pink doll that was part doll part blanket that I apparently carried around with me everywhere as a young child.

2. Do you dream in color?

Yes

3. How tall are you? Do you wish you were shorter or taller?

I'm 5'6" and its amazing b/c for the longest time, up until about a month ago at my Dr's appt. that I thought I was 5'7"! So I'm either shrinking already (NOT GOOD) or I've been wrong all these years! lol I do wish I were a little taller but mostly b/c I'm a big girl so it would help even it out more! hahahaha

4. If you could have anyone's (celeb or other) voice as the guide on your GPS, who would it be?

Oh wow, um I really have no clue. My husband would want Darth Vader, which is apparently available?! I have no clue, we don't have a GPS, we don't travel enough to need one...yet! But for me, hmmm...just something relaxing I guess.

5. Do you return your shopping cart to the corral or leave it wherever in the parking lot?

Depends on the season! lol If it winter and cold as all get out then I leave it where we are, or raining but would have to be raining really hard b/c I don't normally mind the rain. Otherwise we return them to the corals.

He also does such a great job in the chair its kinda cute how he already flirts w/the girls! hahahaha (oh boy!)

More Followers = New Friends

A bit about me

I'm never very good about writing about myself, I always feel odd doing it. So, I'll do my best. I'm Holly or MoonChylde an online nickname I've gone by for years! :) I'm 30-something and married to my very best friend Scott. We've been together for 10yrs and married for 3. Together we have one son, Quinn who will be 4 in September. He is the light of my life, we worked very hard to have him, after 2 miscarriages and years of wondering if it would every happen he finally arrived and made us the happiest parents ever. I am also step-mom to 2 more boys, Ian who is 12 and Jacob who is 9.

I work full-time overnights in a residential unit for chemically dependent teens. I love my job and after 3 1/2yrs the overnights are almost 2nd nature to me. I really don't mind them too much except when it comes to switching back to a 'normal' schedule on my days off to spend with the family!

I've had a passion for photography since I was a kid and have decided in the past year or so that I really want to start pursuing that. So, I'm doing what I can when I can to build up those skills and something for a portfolio! I'm also a longtime scrapper, started as a paper scrapper back in '98 and been digi-scrapping for the past couple years. I love to read and I'm even a writer when I'm in the mood and have the time!

My blog is a work in progress, I've been trying to get into blogging for a couple years and do my best with the time I have. I've decided to start gradually by doing a couple posts a week to get into a routine. So far here lately I've been doing good!

Questions for Friday, July 23rd:

1. What were your school colors?

Yellowish Gold (I think they called it Cardinal?) and Maroon

2. What's the best compliment you ever received?

I don't take compliments well so I apparently don't remember them. I've had alot of people lie to me in life so I tend to think that is what they are doing. I've had people compliment me on my mothering, my loyalty, my beauty, but sometimes I just don't believe them. Sad isn't it? I know that my darling, loving husband has told me all of these things and him I believe! :)

3. Do you buy cheap or expensive toilet paper?

I have tried to find a decent cheap toilet paper to no avail. I am just a person who is kinda picky on the issue. We have found I believe it is the Sams Club brand from Sams Club here and it is cheaper and feels just like Charmin! ;) So we've been using that for awhile now!

4. Have you ever had a surprise party thrown for you? Or have you had one for someone else?

I was surprised by a joint 18th bday party by all my friends. My BFF at the time, her bday was the day after mine so they did it up for us, hotel room and everything! Too bad I was sick to really enjoy it. lol And yes I have thrown a surprise party that went off w/out a hitch. I had a blast doing it, was for my ex though so we won't go much more into details! lol

5. What is one material possession that you "can't live without"?

Well my initial idea is to say my laptop, but then I start to think and I think my camera or my glasses since I can't see w/out them! lol I can honestly live w/out my phone, we all did it before, well lived w/out cell phones before at least! hahaha

I'll go w/my laptop, it goes to work with me every night I work and those would be some very boring nights again if I did not have it! Oh, and the wifi signal of course! hahahaha

I thought I would share an older pic today, feeling a little nostalgic with it being a year ago that my father passed away. I think of him daily but find myself thinking of him more than normal. These are scanned so not the greatest quality!

Five Question Friday

Well I skipped out on the Wordless Wednesday post this week, for some reason I could not get any pics to upload?! Hmmm....hope it works come next week!

So onto Five Question Friday!

Questions for Friday, July 16th:

1. Do you collect anything?

I have collected a few things in life. I started w/bears when I was a kid and collected a ton of them. From stuffed to finally the Cherished Teddies figures. For whatever reason I got out of it and moved onto collecting fairies. I do not have even half the collection of those though. I think as we get older some people forget. Or it was because my collection item changed maybe? lol

2. Name 3 celebrities that you find good looking.

Ok I will probably get grief for this but Angelina Jolie is my top choice their, I think she is one of the most attractive women of our time. Next would be David Boreanaz, I think he is just yummy! ;) He played Angel in the TV series Angel (spin off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) & he currently plays Agent Booth in the TV series Bones. Lastly I would have to say L.L Cool J., I have thought he was HOT since the 'Mama Said Knock You Out' days! hahaha

3. Do you have any scars? If so, what's the story behind it (them?)?

Yes I have a couple. My most prominent are the ones on my left leg. I fell off my bike 2yrs in a row as a kid and completely tore up my leg both times so I have a few scars from that. I also have some surgical scars, on my left ankle from a laproscopy done when I was in high school and on my abdomen from having my appendix removed.

4. What is a food that you like to eat, but others might think it's gross or weird?

I'd probably have to say the amount of sweets I can eat. I have a sweet tooth like no other!

5. Have you ever seen a tornado in real life?

I was born and raised in South Dakota, yes I have seen and been in a few of them!

Questions for Friday, July 9th:

1. What is one food you could eat everyday?

Chocolate, I am such a terrible chocoholic!

2. Are you working in the career you thought you would be when you were 18?

Nope, at 18 I didn't know what I wanted to be so I skipped going to College and went into the workforce full-time. Though I started then in Customer Service and am SOOOO happy I am no longer there! I enjoy working with the kids I work with and enjoy it even more that I don't have to see them all that much since I work overnights! haha

3. What is something that you wish you would have done when you were younger and you didn't?

Learned how to eat better. I struggle everyday with this and have struggled my whole life with being overweight. So if I could go back and change something I really think it would be to learn then to like the 'good' stuff for you and develop a passion for exercising. It's all an uphill battle anymore :S

I do have one other thing that I've always said that if I could go back I would change and that ties into the previous question. I would go to college out of high school and not wait. I really regret not doing this and not experiencing that part of life as a young adult. I may not have known what I wanted to do but I certainly could've started something!

4. What color are your kitchen walls?

Um, boring white...we rent.

5. Do you remember what your very first favorite song was?

Well I think my first cassette that I got as a kid was one of Cindi Lauper's so I'm thinking it was 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun'. But shortly there after came Madonna's 'True Blue' cassette and I remember playing that thing over and over and over and over again! LOL Back in the days of having to either listen to the whole thing for fast forward and rewind to get to the song you wanted! Hahahaha....oh these kids have it so easy now!

Wordless Wednesday!

Time for another Wordless Wednesday and this week brings up some pictures of the fireworks we watched Sunday night at our fairgrounds. It was a great show and after we we out and shot some of our own off! Quinn had a blast holding sparklers! Ian had fun watching dad shoot the big stuff off as he shot of roman candles and such. Jacob went back to his moms early so was not with us for this years festivities.


July 4th also marked the last day a year ago that my father would be home with us or spend a holiday with us, the anniversary of his passing is coming up and with it marks a rough time in our house right now.

Questions for Friday, July 2nd:

1. What is one thing you miss the most about childhood?

I miss the carefree nature of childhood, the no big adult responsibilities to worry about and that we were able to get on our bikes and ride all over town (or our side of town) and have little to no worries about strangers and the dangers we are all so much more aware of today.

Oh and one other thing I miss from childhood? The energy kids have! I seriously could make a killing if I could bottle up my sons energy and sell it!

2. Are you still friends with your friends from high school?

Yes I have a couple very close girlfriends yet from high school, one is actually from the grade school age, we met at church when we were 5! We don't get together as often as we'd like but have a blast when we can!

3. Is there a catch phrase, cliche, or word that just drives you bonkers every time you hear it?

One that comes to mind is when people actually say O-M-G, not 'Oh My God/Gosh/Goodness' etc. Or they say W-T-F instead of the implied. I work with teenage kids and hear these a lot and surprisingly they get upset when they get into trouble over the WTF, like I have no idea what it means! lol

4. What is one thing that you think symbolizes America...besides "Old Glory"?

The Bald Eagle, pretty simple there. My Father collected Eagles and many of them are displayed with Old Glory. To me they all go hand in hand.

5. What are your 4th of July weekend plans?

It is my scheduled weekend to work but I was able to take the 3-5 off. The 5th is our 3rd anniversary and the 4th we are going to be taking the kids to see the firework show at our local fairgrounds. We may also purchase some to shoot off after that. I have always loved shooting off fireworks!!! :) Oh and I'm sure there will be a picnic in there too!
